Old
World Industries, Inc., was founded over 30
years ago by Tom Hurvis and Riaz Waraich.
The two had first met, years earlier, in
New York – when Riaz was Division President of
a multinational textile and petrochemical
corporation
based in Pakistan – and Tom was a budding
Entrepreneur seeking products from the Far East
for sale in the textile markets of the United
States.
Mutual
respect led to friendship – a friendship that
continued to grow as Riaz rose through the ranks
to become President of his corporation while
Tom’s marketing expertise led to his becoming
head of a highly successful advertising agency.
In
the midst of the petrochemical shortage,
transatlantic wires hummed as the two once again
finalized an agreement: Together, they would
form a new company – a company with a
structure, a commitment, and a vision unlike any
the world had seen before…
Today,
the Winged Griffin symbol of Old World
Industries, Inc. flies in more than 52 countries
around the globe as a symbol of growth and
success. It
still represents what it did in the beginning:
the Old World’s insistence on quality and
craftsmanship…the New World’s expertise in
high technology and marketing…and the daring
spirit of the entrepreneur.
