AIRPORT DEICING PRODUCTS
Leading Supplier to Nation's Busiest Airports Will Continue Providing 
"The Science of Deicing" Via PEAK® PA and PEAK® SF Products

(1/17/02 - Northbrook, IL) - Old World Industries (OWI), the nation's #1 provider of airport runway de-/anti-icing chemicals, has today announced it will be changing the brand name these products are sold under to PEAK®. 

"More than 75 of America's largest airports count on deicing chemicals from Old World Industries to keep their operations moving no matter what mother nature throws at them. Now the same great products are available with the universally recognized PEAK® brand name," said Joel Saltzman, vice president and general manager of OWI's Industrial Chemical Division.

Formulated to meet the airport industry's stringent AMS 1431B and AMS 1435A requirements for solid and liquid de-/anti-icers, Old World's product offering will include:

• PEAK® PA (Liquid Potassium Acetate) is 100% non-toxic, nonflammable and virtually odorless. This 90% biodegradable product contains state-of-the-art corrosion inhibitor that reduces impact on runway surfaces, landing lights and wiring, and the exterior of aircraft. With a freeze point lower than -70º F (-57º C), PEAK® PA is highly effective in low temperature and extreme weather conditions. 
  

• PEAK® SF (Granular Sodium Formate) is highly effective and environmentally acceptable for all airside operational surfaces and landside applications. Effective to 0º F, this granular product provides highly effective deicing performance, as well as a residual anti-icing presence on the operational surface. 

The decision to utilize OWI's PEAK® brand name for its commercial deicing products stems from the immense popularity and recognition of the company's automotive antifreeze/ coolant and other winter chemicals. "For over 50 years, the PEAK® name has been synonymous with cost effective products that deliver high quality and reliable performance under extreme winter conditions," said Old World's Saltzman.
