Diethylene Glycol is similar to
ethylene glycol in many respects, including water and organic
compound compatibility; freezing point depressant capability; ease
in reacting with intermediates; and solvent, lubricant,
plasticizing, and hygroscopic properties. However, certain physical
properties of Diethylene Glycol--including a higher boiling point,
viscosity, and specific gravity--make it a more desirable material
than ethylene glycol in many applications.
